Gabriel makes the step up to the National League with Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood have announced the permanent signing of prolific former St Albans City and Haringey Borough striker Ralston Gabriel.

The 27-year-old was a revelation at St Albans City earlier in the season, scoring 12 goals in all competitions before briefly returning to Haringey Borough in December.

Since his return to Haringey, Gabriel has netted a further 13 times, taking his tally up to 25 in all competitions, showing his prowess in front of goal.

The fast-footed forward netted more than 30 goals for Borough in their promotion-winning 2017/2018 campaign, and became an integral player during a two-year spell.

Those 30-goals included an incredible four hat-tricks for Borough, after joining them from Enfield Town.

Gabriel will be available to boost the Wood’s frontline, ahead of Saturday’s home fixture against Hartlepool United in the National League.

On joining the club, Ralston said: “I am very happy to be honest with you, it is a great opportunity to go and prove myself and show everyone what I can do.

“I have known Luke Garrard for a while and it has been positive vibes all the way through.

“I know that he has been monitoring my progress and I just felt that it was the right time for me to come here and show what I can do.

“I think that my strengths would be my speed, my ability to get in behind defenders, and scoring goals. My record has been very good so far and I have just got to keep it going now at Boreham Wood.

Luke Garrard: “He has got a pedigree in the Ryman Premier League that stacks up against the best and he continued that form during his time with St Albans, where he scored 12 times – four in one game.

“He is coming here with a knack of scoring goals and we have got a great platform for him. There is a fantastic infrastructure here and an environment that will hopefully allow him to flourish.

“I have known him for a while and I know his character, because his brother Ricky came through our academy system.

“He has all the tools to succeed here, so let’s hope that he progresses with us, delivers on a match day, and scores us some much-needed goals.”
