Paul Barnes has brought another fresh face into his Greenwich Borough squad tonight with the signing of Herne Bay attacker Nassim Dukali.
The former Aveley and Dulwich Hamlet player announced his departure from Herne Bay on Twitter today in a move that has upset his former side.
As reported on the Club Website, Herne Bay were unhappy that they could not get Dukali to stay with them.
“Nassim Dukali has responded to the approach from Greenwich Borough and has decided he could not turn down the offer they made.
We are extremely disappointed about this as we were been promised he would sign Contract forms with us. After stalling on putting his signature on the forms he appears to have been advised by his agent to accept the offer made by Greenwich.
We at the Club feel totally let down by Naz particularly after the very first approach made back in September he asked if we could increase his money which we did. He agreed to stay at the club and was willing to sign contract forms, but his signature never came.”
Nassim will join a strike force on fire at the moment and one that will still include Top Scorer Jack Barham, at least until the end of the season. A statement on the Greenwich Borough website said
“Greenwich Borough FC are delighted to announce that our forward, Jack Barham, who has been instrumental this season, has today committed to remain at the club until the end of the season.
As it has been widely reported, Jack has been subject to multiple approaches and enquiries from League and Conference Clubs.
Jack has expressed his desire to stay and finish what he came here to do, and that’s to gain promotion and finish as the leagues top goal scorer.
As always is the case, when there is a change in management, players are often at the centre of questions regarding their futures, but with the club appointing Paul Barnes earlier this month, Jack has committed to play his part, in what he thinks is a excellent professional environment to help him develop and access the new and exciting ideas brought to Greenwich Borough FC by the new Manager and his staff”.
Jack Barham also gave his view, saying, “I’m delighted to remain at Greenwich Borough for the rest of the season, I think this season it is important that I play every league game and keep my head focused, despite doing well so far and attracting lots of clubs I still want to remain a Greenwich Borough player till the end of the season. The squad that we have got is more than enough to win the league and I’d like to play a massive part in promotion this year”.
Greenwich Borough FC Manager Paul Barnes spoke of his delight at the news, “I am extremely delighted to know we get to keep Jack with us until he end of the season. To find a talent like him, with the character and attitude that comes with it, is very rare. I take it as a compliment that Jack is putting his development in our hands, we feel that Jack will flourish accessing the new ideas we are putting in place here. Jack has all the attributes to go on and forge a career for himself in the game and we want to help him achieve those goals”.
The next game for Greenwich is on Saturday away at Horsham as they aim to continue their long unbeaten run and push for promotion.
