Maidstone & District Football League

STATEMENT FROM THE MAIDSTONE & DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE…..

“The League had its follow-up meeting last night from the Special General Meeting that was held on 10th April and it is with deep regret that we have to inform you that the Maidstone & District Saturday Football League will not continue next season.

This decision has not been taken lightly, but with only five of the existing Teams continuing next season and despite numerous efforts to encourage new Teams to join, we have only been successful in procuring two possible new Teams which will give us a total of seven Clubs.
All of the Clubs agreed at the SGM that we ideally need ten Clubs to continue and as we fall short of that number it is no longer viable to continue.

Where we can we will help any Club that wishes to join another League so please contact us for any contacts that you may need.

The League will continue to the end of the season and would remind Clubs that they have an obligation to fulfill their remaining fixtures. There is still a League title to play for and our end of year presentations will still go ahead as normal at our AGM on 26th June 2018.

The League Committee would like to thank all the Clubs for their support over the years and wish you all the very best.

Kind regards

Julia
Secretary”

The Maidstone and District League is a feeder League for the Kent County Divisions which can then lead on to the SCEFL. Last month the League had made the attempt to encourage new teams to sign up by scrapping entry fees but clearly this initiative has not worked out.
