Mekki commits to Bromley

Bromley Football Club have announced that winger Adam Mekki has signed a new deal at Hayes Lane.

The 26 year-old winger started his career in Reading’s youth setup, before going on to play for Aldershot Town in League Two, as well as the National League. During his time with the Shots, he gained valuable experience elsewhere, with loan spells at Oxford City, Carshalton Athletic, Dorchester Town and Basingstoke Town.

After making just under 100 appearances and impressing during his spell in Hampshire, the Chester-born wide man had a brief spell with Barnet, before moving on to Tranmere Rovers, with whom he spent two seasons, making 59 appearances and scoring four times.

Mekki joined the Ravens from Tranmere in the Summer of 2017, and made an instant impression on supporters, with some outstanding displays on the wing. He was an instrumental part of the side which progressed to the Buildbase FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium, and was named official Man of The Match on the day.

Manager Neil Smith was delighted with Mekki’s desire to commit to the Ravens for another year; “I’m really pleased that Adam is staying with us. It’s going to be another tough season, but nevertheless we want to improve on what we did last year. The fact that Adam is staying shows our ambition, and I know he’s delighted to sign as he’s enjoyed being at the Club, on and off the field.”

Mekki added; “I’m happy to have signed again for another year. Hopefully we can put the end of last season behind us and reach new heights this year.”

Adam joins the following players in committing to the Ravens for next season:

  • David Gregory
  • Jack Holland
  • Jordan Higgs
  • Bobby-Joe Taylor

Neil Smith remains in talks with a number of last season’s squad and potential further signings.
