King takes throne at Welling United

Tonight Welling United revealed Steve King as their new manager.

King has a wealth of experience at non-league level listing Whitehawk, Macclesfield, Lewes and Farnborough amongst his former clubs and has a reputation of being one of the best managers at this level in Non League.

His CV includes various play off campaigns and cup success, notably taking Macclesfield town to the Fourth Round of the FA Cup in 2013, for the first time in the club’s history.

The new managers long term ambition is to return the club to the National League but he is aware how tough the coming Season will be with the competition in the National League South this term.

King was most recently in position as Whitehawk Manager and although unable to prevent them from relegation from the National League South he done a terrific job at the Hawks and remains a legend at the club.

He replaces Jamie Coyle who left the club three weeks ago and is now in place as Dartford joint-manager.
Other members of the recent backroom staff have also moved on in the past few weeks, with the Academy Director and Fitness coach both making the move to Billericay and the Goalkeeping coach leaving for Hastings United. King has said he is looking to bring his own team in once he has assessed the situation.

Current contracted players are Jack Jebb, Connor Dymond, Adam Coombes and player-coach Jack Parkinson and joining them will be 4 new signings to be announced tonight.
