Pavey makes National League switch to Dover

Dover Athletic have signed England ‘C’ striker Alfie Pavey from National League rivals Havant & Waterlooville.

Dover contacted Havant last week enquiring about a deal and although Pavey would have been happy to stay the lure of a full-time training schedule aswell as less commuting time has led to him making the switch to Andy Hessenthaler’s side.

Both sides are towards the rear of the table but with a new manager on board Dover are clearly intent on getting out of trouble.

The striker finished as the National League South’s top scorer last term with 22 goals in a Dartford side that narrowly missed out on the title to Havant & Waterlooville themselves.

Last Campaign he started at Welling United but frustrated with a lack of first team opportunities he made the switch to Dartford where he proved to be a huge success and was awarded the National League South Player of the Season.

Pavey started his career in the youth ranks at Maidstone before being offered a two-year scholarship at Millwall. He had loan spells at Barnet, Aldershot and Bromley and was released by the Lions last summer.
