Pennock and Day are no longer Barrow Boys
Vanarama National League club Barrow AFC have parted company with manager Ady Pennock and assistant-manager Jamie Day.
Since the season came to an end, discussions have been held between the management duo and the club`s management, with the decision made to part company.
Pennock joined the Bluebirds in October last year following the departure of Micky Moore, with Jamie Day joining him in February.
Pennock, 47, had left SkyBet League One Gillingham by mutual consent a month earlier and then became Barrow’s third manager of the season, following Moore and Paul Cox, and inherited a side sitting twenty-second in the table, with just two wins from seventeen games.
He previously managed both Welling United and Forest Green Rovers at non-League level.
Prior to joining Barrow, Day had been turning out for Cray Valley PM in the Southern Counties East League after leaving League One side Gillingham as first-team coach in October 2017 following the exit of Pennock as head coach.
Their pair joined the Gills at the same time in January 2017.
Day was previously manager of National League South outfit Welling United, Ebbsfleet United and, briefly, Braintree Town.
He also had a spell as assistant-manager under Pennock at Forest Green.
Local media has said that he has now taken over as Manager of the Bangladesh National Team.
Jamie Day, who started playing football at a young age attending Lilleshall National Sports Centre with initiative of Michael Owen and Wes Brown, represented England in U-18 level and signed a professional contract with Arsenal.
Having cut his career short by injuries, Jamie set his ambitions to make career as coach and coached the youth teams of Arsenal FC and Charlton Athletic.
Under the personal recommendation of Eddie Howe and Arsene Wenger, he attained his UEFA ‘A’ Coaching Licence and moved to senior coaching in 2009.
Jamie won the Conference South title with Welling Utd in 2013 as they were promoted to the Conference Premier and he was also named manager of the year for the 2012-13 season.
Later, he moved to Gillingham FC as a First Team Coach and most recently he was assigned as Assistant Manager for Barrow AFC.
Jamie is a hard-working, highly motivated individual who deals well in high pressure situations. He is vastly experienced in coaching, man management, youth development and sports psychology.
His wide range of experience and versatility in the various leagues in English Football is a major asset for him.
