Police Appeal FA decision

Met Police have appealed to the FA regarding the league restructuring decision that has moved them to the Southern League South Division from the Isthmian Premier.

A statement on their official website says,
“The club can confirm that after meetings throughout the day yesterday (Monday) with various club and other clubs officials, we will appeal to the FA regarding last weeks news of the restructuring of non-league football.
A date has not been set but is likely to be towards the end of May. The club will make no further comment until the decision or when necessary.”

The move to the Southern League South will mean a huge increase in travel for the side from Surrey which is ironic as the new system was brought in to reduce travelling times and cost.

After the restructuring decision came out last week, Met Police Manager Jim Cooper was forced to resign due to not wanting to commit to the increase in travel times. His statement on the website showed his disappointment at needing to end his long reign as boss.
“Over the past 15 seasons, I have managed 634 Isthmian League games and probably another 150 plus cup games for the Metropolitan Police FC. As a result of the league restructuring I have sadly informed the chairman that I have no other choice but to resign from this position today

Travelling from my home in Essex to Imber Court alone was a strain, so to be moved into a league which for the club itself adds so many more longer trips on top of taking away the Essex and Kent games which were close by left me with little choice.”

We await a decision on what will happen with the appeal.
