Frankie Raymond commits to Bromley

Bromley Football Club have announced that midfielder Frankie Raymond has signed a new contract.

The popular midfielder, 25, was born in Chislehurst and came through the ranks at Reading to earn his place in the club’s academy. From this, he embarked on short term loan spells at Horsham, Basingstoke Town, Eastleigh and Hungerford Town.

Following his departure from the Royals, Raymond joined then League Two side Gillingham, and represented the Gills’ development side on a number of occasions, before moving on to Eastbourne Borough. After impressing in a two year spell with the Sports, he caught the eye of Dagenham & Redbridge manager Wayne Burnett, and made the step back up to League Two.

After spending three seasons with the Daggers, which included a loan spell back at Eastbourne, Raymond joined Bromley, his local side, amidst interest from Football League Clubs.

He was a key figure in Bromley’s successful 2017-18 season, playing 47 times and scoring three goals, as well as establishing himself as a key figure in the middle of the park, and something of a set piece specialist.

Raymond was pleased to be staying on at the Club; “I’m absolutely delighted. With the season we had last year, I think it’s good to keep as much of the squad together as possible. Hopefully we can push on even more. I spoke to Neil earlier on in the Summer before we both went on holiday. As soon as I came back I went straight to meet him to sign, there was no other club I wanted to be at.”

Manager Neil Smith added; “Frankie was superb last season. He’s a great player and one who’s committed to the Club. He’s a local boy too and to have him on board after the season he had last year will put us in good stead for the upcoming campaign.”

Frankie joins the following players in committing to the Ravens for next season:

David Gregory
Jack Holland
Jordan Higgs
Bobby-Joe Taylor
Adam Mekki
Kyle De Silva
George Porter
Dan Johnson
Jake Goodman

Neil Smith remains in talks with a number of last season’s squad and potential further signings. Of course, the official website will bring you any further news as soon as we have it.
