Zak Ansah arrives at Herne Bay

Herne Bay have made a big show of intent by securing the services of striker Zak Ansah.

Striker Zak Ansah had spells with Sydenham Sports club and Charlton Athletic before joining the academy at Arsenal at the age of 10. He then made his way through the club’s youth system, making his debut for their under-18 side at the age of just 14.
Ansah has represented England at both Under-16 and Under-17 level but has committed his international future to Ghana. On 4 December 2012, with Arsenal already qualified for the next round of the competition, Ansah was named as a substitute for the club’s Champions’ League group stage match against Olympiacos but remained on the bench during a 2–1 defeat. At the end of the 2013/14 season, Ansah parted ways with Arsenal.

He subsequently joined Charlton Athletic on a two-year deal, and spent periods on loan with Plymouth Argyle and Newport County where he made first team appearances and scored an abundance of goals.

In August 2016, Ansah joined Surrey-based side Woking for the 2016/17 National League season. A long-term injury kept him out of the Woking side and after a while he joined Hythe Town.

Ansah was a revalation for Hythe and during his two seasons there he scored 51 goals in 61 appearances.

He is most known for being the star striker of Sunday League You Tube sensations SE Dons where his goals entertain their thousands of online viewers. It was Hythe Towns reluctance to accept his love for Sunday football that led to Ansah moving on from the club and now he arrives at Bay with knowledge that his new side will happily share him over the weekend.

He is clearly a fantastic addition to the squad which shows the high ambition of the club.

Zak joins Joe Nelder, Stuart West, Ricky Freeman, Kyron Lightfoot, Chris Saunders and Danny Lawrence as new signings for this new-look Herne Bay side.
