Angles the latest to Furlough First Team

Tonbridge Angels are the latest Club to reveal that they have furloughed their first team.

They have released this statement;

“Because of the serious financial situation in which Tonbridge Angels finds itself, the club has reluctantly taken the decision to furlough its entire 1st team squad.

The club will continue to fulfil its National South fixtures, if required, by assembling an alternative squad. Manager, Steve Mckimm and assistant Barry Moore are now currently undertaking that task.

Commented, Angels Chairman, Dave Netherstreet: “This is an extremely unfortunate situation, but we have no choice in the matter. The National League has failed to provide clear guidance for its clubs, but we need to preserve our status and as it stands this is the only way through. A number of other clubs are taking similar action.”

Angels had their match today (13/02) against St Albans City called off early due to a frozen pitch and are next due to be in action on Tuesday 16th February when they host Bath City.”

Dover Athletic and Maidstone United have also furloughed their First Team ssquad.
