Big G stars on Big Screen

SE Dons Captain and Goalkeeper George Kamurasi is keeping busy during lockdown by making appearing in a regular slot on Soccer AM.

The Saturday morning football show requires a larger than life keeper to mind the sticks at multiple times during it’s 90 minute output on Sky Sports and Big G fills that role just perfectly.

His most recent appearance came on the 30th January where he caused a bit of a stir when bringing down ‘The Masked Singer’ host Joel Dommett, with the presenter attempting a one-on-one finish against the Herne Bay stopper.

It was no entry that time and many others too as George pulled off a string of big saves – no surprise to those that have watched him over the years on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning.

“It’s great being on Soccer AM. Fenners and Jimmy Bullard are brilliant and they always get a bit of drama with me” George told Kent Online Sport.

“I’ve had quite a few good battles on there, Christian Fuchs, Darren Bent, Nedum Onuoha.

“SE Dons is my life, it’s my job, it’s my career, and being able to highlight that on national TV has been incredible.

“How many Sunday League teams can say they’re on Sky all the time?

“We’re the biggest Sunday League team in the world – we’ve got a global following – and what we do is so good for the community.

“You always get some negativity, especially when you’re trying to be successful, but life is tougher than football, so football is never going to break me.

“People say being a goalkeeper is a pressure position. It’s not, it’s a responsibility position, to keep the ball out of your net and when you do that, you earn your team-mates’ respect.”

He divides opinions with his style but he seems to like playing the bad boy and hopefully we get to see plenty more of Big G on the Big screen in the weeks and months to come.
