Braintree Town sign Welling United Midfielder

Braintree Town have announced the signing of Olu Durojaiye from Welling United.

Olu held down the defensive midfield role for most of last Season at Park View Road from where he found the net twice and was voted as second in the Clubs Player of the Year Awards.

The versatile player is Manager Bradley Quinton’s first signing of the summer prior to the club’s return season in the Vanarama National League.

The 25-year old started off in the youth setup at Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City, before signing his first professional contract for Falkirk in Scotland.

His time at Tottenham saw him rise through the ranks to the Under-18s as a striker. He then trialled with Cheltenham Town, Brentford and Oxford United before moving to Norwich City in August 2012, where he signed a professional contract. In July 2013, Durojaiye moved north of the border to Scottish Championship club Falkirk, spending two seasons at the club before finishing the 2014-15 campaign on loan at Scottish League One side Brechin City. After spells at Enfield, Hayes & Yeading and Haringey Borough, he signed for Welling United in August 2017.

He also has international experience after being called up to Nigeria’s Under-20 Development Squad.
