Collins steps down from Faversham Town role
James Collins has tonight stood down as first team manager after nearly three seasons in charge at the club.
In his resignation email to the board, James thanked supporters and those who had backed him throughout his time at Aquatherm Stadium.
But he said that in a period of change following the end of the 21/22 season, it was time to take on a new challenge.
The board of Faversham Town expressed their sadness at his decision but wished him the best of luck in his new role.
In a statement, James said: “It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to leave my role as first team manager at Faversham Town FC. I have tonight, with regret, handed in my resignation to the board so that the process of appointing a new manager can begin. The situation at the club is currently one of change and I have been offered an exciting opportunity elsewhere that, in these circumstances, I feel I cannot overlook.
“I want to place on record my thanks to those within the club and on the terraces who have supported me through thick and thin from the moment I arrived nearly three seasons ago. I hope everyone will feel that during my time here I have worked as hard as I could to move the club forward in difficult times. At times it has been tough, of course, but I leave with such great memories.
“I know that I will be back to watch, and will be following your progress from afar. Maybe one day I will be back driving the Lilywhites forward as they will always have a place in my heart. For now though, I will become their biggest fan.
“Faversham is a special place, with amazing supporters, who remain the heartbeat of the club. I want to thank all the fans for the support you have given me, my coaches and every player who has pulled on a Faversham Town shirt in my time here.
“It has been my privilege to manage your club, and I hope we have given you some good memories in return. You have made it a special time for me, and I have made lifelong friends.
“I wish everyone at the club luck and look forward to seeing you all again soon.”

An announcement on the process for selecting a new manager, and details of how potential candidates can apply, will be announced shortly on the website.
The club last night thanked James for the work he had done since arriving in November 2019 to take over from Danny Chapman and Phil Miles.
The statement said: “The board are saddened at James’s decision and would like to put on record our thanks for all his efforts in his time with us.
“We wish James the very best of luck in his new position on behalf of the directors, volunteers and supporters at the club. He will always be welcome at the Aquatherm Stadium.”
