Folkestone Invicta – 2021/22 Season Squad and Fixtures

Folkestone Invicta have prepared for the new season by revealing a number of signings in to their Isthmian Premier Division squad.

Winger, Kieron McCann, becomes manager Neil Cugley’s first addition for the 2021/22 season, rejoining Invicta from Cray Valley PM having left for the Pitching In Isthmian South East club last summer.

Kieron originally signed for Invicta from Sevenoaks Town in the summer of 2017 and made 135 appearances, scoring 21 goals, during his first spell in black and amber.

Speaking about the signing boss Neil Cugley said: “I was delighted that he wanted to come back, he’s one of many who have left the club and decided to return. At the time it was easier for Kieron to play closer to home but if he’s resolved the problem we are delighted to have him back. He’s popular in the dressing room, he’s determined, he’s a winner and he wants to be here and do well.”

The latest name to commit to another season at the BuildKent Stadium is defender Matt Newman.

Matt is now back in full training as he recovers from the knee injury that saw him miss the entirety of the curtailed 2020/21 season after he landed awkwardly during a pre-season friendly against Ashford United back in August.

Matt is currently in his second spell in black and amber having returned to the club in 2017 and has made 286 appearances for the club, scoring 10 goals.

Folkestone have announced that Tyler Sterling is another player to commit to staying at the BuildKent Stadium for the 2021/22 season.

The 19 year old forward is a product of their youth system, playing a part in Paul Stanton’s treble winning under 18 team of 2018/19. Tyler made an explosive entrance to first team football at the BuildKent Stadium with a long range goal at home to Carshalton Athletic in February 2020 that was voted goal of the season for 2019/20.

Tyler has made 13 appearances for Invicta, having also spent time at Herne Bay on loan during a very stop-start beginning to his first team career due the the COVID-19 pandemic.

Manager Neil Cugley said of Tyler: “We think a lot of Tyler and it’s great to see him back [from Herne Bay] looking fit and ready to go for next season. He’s a lad with a lot of talent and we hope he can work hard and we can get the best from him.”

Josh Vincent has also committed to another season at the BuildKent Stadium.

It may come as no surprise as Josh is a local lad with 524 games under his belt, but his goal against Hornchurch in the final game before the season was curtailed was sure to have drawn interest from some of the biggest clubs in the game! Luckily the one-club-man has no intentions of swapping the black and amber stripes for any other shirt and will be blessing the BuildKent Stadium pitch when we return to football at the end of June. Now the club’s longest-serving player, Josh stepped up into the first team squad during 2008-09. The club’s Young Player of the Year in 2008-09. A member of the 2015-16 Isthmian League Division One South championship winning team. Was rewarded with a testimonial season for 2017-18.

Ronnie Dolan has committed to another season too. The Midfielder who scored with his first touch for the club as a substitute at home to Corinthian-Casuals in November 2014. Joined the club from Hastings United and has also had spells at Ashford Town, Ashford United, Hythe Town and Welling United. Was a part of the 2015-16 Isthmian League Division One South championship winning team. Has been unlucky with injuries over the past few seasons. but has made 210 appearances in black and amber, also scoring 25 goals.

Leaving the club is winger Adem Ramadan.

Adem joined Invicta in August 2020 after spells at fellow Kent clubs Tonbridge Angels and Margate. Adem made 11 appearances for the club before the season was curtailed at the beginning of November.

He spoke to the media team to say: “It’s been a pleasure to play for Folkestone Invicta and a shame it was cut short. I wish the club all the best for next season”
