Further problems at Ebbsfleet United as McMahon parts ways with the club

Ebbsfleet United Football Club have announced today that manager Daryl McMahon has left the club by mutual consent.

A statement on the Club Website says,

The club wishes to place on record its thanks for Daryl’s achievements in his time at the helm since he took over from Jamie Day in April 2015. He has led the club to the play-offs in each of the last three seasons and won promotion from the National League South through the Play-Off Final in 2017. In the side’s first season back in the National League, the club reached the Play-Off Semi-Final losing to eventual winners Tranmere Rovers.

Club chairman and owner Dr Abdulla Al Humaidi has expressed his personal thanks to Daryl, telling the club’s website, “Daryl has worked tremendously hard in getting this club into the National League and consolidating us there. Naturally, this is a disappointing day for myself and the board in parting ways with someone who has been part of the very fabric of our club for the past three years. However, we believe it is the right decision for the club at this point in our development on and off the field. We wish Daryl all the very best in his future career and reiterate our thanks for all he has accomplished in getting the club to its current position”.

Fleet made the play-offs in their first season back up before eventually losing to Tranmere in extra time.

But they’ve found things more difficult this season and McMahon leaves with Fleet sitting 15th in the table.

The club will now start the search for a replacement but will not be commenting further until an appointment is made.

There are clearly lots of issues at Ebbsfleet and it will be interesting to see who is the next man to take the helm and try and keep the side in this Division.
