Gloucester City release trio of forwards

Gloucester City have released forwards Marlon Jackson, Jake Jackson and Cameron Ebbutt.

Experienced striker Marlon Jackson joined the Tigers last summer from Weston-super-Mare and the 29 year old appeared for City 28 times, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

Fellow striker Ebbutt, 21, arrived mid-way through the season on a free transfer from Bristol Rovers but failed to break into the first team, making two substitute appearances.

Jake Jackson joined City from Chippenham in 2018 and was a prolific goalscorer at lower levels.

After an injury hit start he scored 12 goals in 26 appearances in 2018-19, five of those coming in the final seven league games of the season helping City retain their National League status.

After 11 appearances and one goal for the Tigers in National North last season he spent time on loan to Taunton Town after sustaining injury.

“We would like to thank all the players for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them all the best in the future,” said a statement on the City website.

Meanwhile six players are confirmed to be with the club for next season – Jack James, Fabien Robert, Matt McClure, Bernard Mensah, Liam Daly and Josh Thomas.

James, Mensah and McClure joined on 18-month contracts last January, while Daly signed an 18-month deal last November.

Robert penned a two-year deal at the start of last season while Thomas signed a deal until the end of next season in December 2019.
