Midfielder Moncur joins Margate

Margate FC have announced the signing of Freddie Moncur.

The midfielder joins The Gate having spent last season with Concord Rangers and Romford respectively.

Moncur began his career in the youth system at West Ham United before moving to Leyton Orient and earning a professional contract. Whilst with the Os, Moncur enjoyed many productive loan spells with Wingate and Finchley.

Moncur has also spent time on loan with Bishop’s Stortford and East Thurrock United before joining local rivals Ebbsfleet United in the National League in 2018.

Manager Jay Saunders expressed his delight at sealing Moncur’s signature, having previously attempted to sign the 23-year-old on previous occasions.

“Freddie is a player I’ve been aware of and followed his career for a number of years. I’ve actually tried to sign Freddie a number of times before, so I’m pleased to be able to welcome him to my squad for the new season.”

“Freddie has real quality on the ball and from set-pieces, is full of energy and ambitious. I think he will fit in really well with the boys in our squad already and be a real asset in our midfield.”
