MMKSFL set out return plans

The Maidstone and Mid Kent Sunday Football League have set out their hopeful plans on the return to football in their league.

Via their brand new website they have released this statement:

As the time approaches when the Government are preparing to announce their plans about getting the Country back open for business again, the League have discussed ways to finish the 2020/21 season.

It’s anticipated that Schools will be returning around the 8th March, which will hopefully lead to the unlocking of other activities including grassroots football. The league are looking at managing fixtures, venues and dates every few weeks to try to get the best possible solution to finishing the League by 31st May 2021.

Once the Government and FA release restrictions, it will mean all scheduled fixtures must be played, including any double headers. Unfulfilled fixture will be dealt with in the usual manner via the League Committee and Discipline Panel. The league are aware that clubs would like to get some game time under their belts before recommencing but it’s envisaged that this is a luxury that wont be possible given the severe time restraints in place.

Given the time restrictions it has been decided by the Management Committee that all Cup competitions for the 2020/21 season have now been cancelled. The League Committee will issue further updates as announcements are made by the Government, National and County FA.
