Under the new Management of Ben Smith Herne Bay have been busy shaping their squad ahead of the 2019/20 Season.

Among those retained from last year are Danny Leonard, Alex Mulrooney Skinner, Simon Kabamba and Danny Rumbol with more to be revealed soon.

There are also a host of new signings with Smith bringing in those he is very familiar with.

Returning to the Bay from Canterbury City is Danny Lawrence.
“Pleased to be back to where it all began for me. When the guys spoke to me about signing for the club it was an absolute no brainier!! It’s such a well supported club and a club with so much potential and hopefully I can play a big part in that. Some of my greatest football memories come from my first spell at the club and hopefully more to come!! Herne Bay FC is a club close to my heart and I’m delighted to be back home!!”

Agreement has also been made to sign experienced midfielder Chris Saunders for the 19/20 season. Saunders former clubs include Cray Wanderers, Hythe Town, Whitstable and most recently Canterbury City where he spent the final few months of last season, scoring crucial goals in both the last 32 and quarter finals of the FA Vase.

Next to be announced is the signing of 21 year old attacking midfielder Luke Griffiths from Faversham Town. With over 100 appearances in Bostik league and a good goal scoring record, he is sure to become a key player for Herne Bay.

Joe Nelder is also on his way back to the Bay! Having come through the youth ranks, Joe racked up over 200 Bostik appearances for his local club and will once again be an important figure.

Experienced 28 yr old commanding defender Laurence Harvey is next in. The former Maidstone, Ashford, Whitstable and Hythe man is a fantastic addition to a promising looking squad.

Herne Bay are also delighted to announce the signing of Kyron Lightfoot. The 21 year old came through the system at Faversham Town before moving to Cray Wanderers and then Ramsgate at the start of last season. Moving on to Canterbury City he played a vital part in their FA Vase run.

The business is still not done, more are soon to be on their way as Herne Bay can look forward to an exciting season in the Bostik South East.
