Ramsgate FC 2021/22 Season signings, squad and fixtures

Ramsgate FC have announced some new signings and their retained players ahead of the 2021/22 Season.

The Club have been busy at Southwood converting the former pitch into a 3G surface ready for when the new campaign kicks off on August 14th.

In player news;

The Rams welcome back Luke Carey! Boss Matt Longhurst said “Luke was with Charlton from u9s to u23s and had a year pro. Injury has played a big part of his last few years but he has all the tools to reach his potential and It’s down to both Luke and myself to unlock that“

TJ RETURNS!!! TJ Jadama rejoins the Rams for an undisclosed fee, the gaffer was delighted ”TJ is a player I’ve admired for a long time and feel he really suits our style of play with the group we have assembled this year he’s a great age and is back where he calls home.”

Becks signs from Spain – Beckham Kennelly, 22 “He’s lived in Spain for 16 years & played for Ucam Murcia CF, Real Murcia CF also step 4 for Wisbech town in UK & is now moving to Ramsgate for work and to live with family, it’s another perfect fit for the group“

Matt Longhurst is delighted to welcome his former captain, Callum Emptage to Southwood, “An excellent signing, Callum is raring to go again & is football fit I’ve known him since he was 18 & I’m delighted to work with him again another real big plus for the group.”

Tom Cousins – from Ravens to the Rams – Matt had this to say about the Young defender “Tom came in and did well behind closed doors, he is an attacking full back he has lots to learn but a great attitude towards doing so and I am looking forward to working with him.”

Ashley Miller remains at Southwood – Matt said of his attacker “It’s no secret when I came to Ramsgate the first player I spoke to was Ash making sure he stayed, he’s the type of player I would pay to watch, his ability is second to none and has the attitude to match it”

Denzelle Alopade signs – the boss said this of his latest recruit “Denzelle has really impressed us recently, he was with Norwich from 13-17 & then at Palace, this lad really has all the attributes if he applies himself to become a top player“

Jashaun Chamberlin-Gayle signs 2 year contract – the former Eagles youth team captain joins; the manager said this “Jashaun is a footballing centre back with the aggressive side to his game also this is yet another exciting young signing, I can’t wait to see his progress.“

 




Dulwich Hamlet and Millwall academy product Maliq Morris, 20, impressed manager Matt Longhurst in some behind closed doors friendlies. “Maliq has a great passing range and I’m confident he will take the league by storm this year, this is a really exciting signing for us”

Josh Ajayi signs 2 year contract – Longhurst delighted to bring back striker “Josh is one of the most exciting young players I have had the pleasure of working with and I feel a whole season under his belt will catapult him the level he is destined for.”

George Nikaj stays with the Rams – despite missing start of the season with torn ACL injury the gaffer said; “Once he is back fit will become a major asset to the club he’s a local lad and will flourish in the environment and I am looking forward to helping him reach his potential.”

Experienced midfielder Lee Prescott stays on “Injury meant we didn’t really see anywhere near the player Lee is last season, he is now back to the fitness levels he was at prior to his injury and will be like a new signing for us, his experience will aid the young group.”

Jerald Aboagye is to remain at Southwood next season, the gaffer said “Jerald epitomises the group we are putting together he’s an infectious character on and off the pitch a fit powerful player who is quickly becoming a fans favourite it’s great to continue to work with him.”

Meanwhile, Jacob Russell has been named as the clubs new Head of Goalkeeping. The former Crystal Palace keeper who played several games for The Rams this season has been given this vital role as Ramsgate look to shape a new future going into next season

This seasons Team captain will be Jake McIntyre, manager Matt Longhurst had this to say “Jake is only 26 but has vast experience in this level of football he’s a winner & a real leader on the pitch & I can’t wait to work with him again this season in his new role”

Mitch Chapman stays at Southwood – The gaffer stated “Mitch is another player I am delighted to keep this season he’s only 22 but again has lots of games at this level, he’s a real competitive midfielder who scores goals another big piece of the puzzle this year”

Rory Smith, home-grown star staying put! “Rory is a great talent and works so hard for the team he is only 22 but has played lots of games at this level it wasn’t long ago a Scottish Premier league club offered the club money for his services” Longhurst said.

We are delighted to announce club captain Tom Chapman is staying with the club this season ,Matt Longhurst said “Tom is one of the hardest working players I have worked with and is a role model on and off the pitch too all of our youth players at the club”

Earlier in the summer Matt Longhurst welcomed Lee Barnett to the club, as the former QPR player joins as his assistant manager.

Barnett will work alongside Longhurst and Liam Taylor to form Ramsgate’s management team for the 2021/22 Isthmian League campaign.

Ramsgate begin their Isthmian League campaign away at Three Bridges on 14th August.
