SCEFL League Statement – 5th January 2021

The board of directors met on Monday evening, prior to the announcement made by PM Boris Johnson.

Our last communication to clubs was before the Tier 4 restrictions came into force on December 19 and, as such, the situation has again evolved somewhat.

All Southern Counties East Football League matches have now been paused indefinitely. In addition, the board will give 14 days’ notice for a restart date.

We know our clubs will look to the league for guidance on the way ahead but given the current climate it is not possible to set any guaranteed date of a return to playing games.

All scenarios are up for discussion and we are fortunate that our chair, Denise Richmond, is also Step 5/6 FA Council representative and as such is regularly in contact with all Step 5/6 League Chairs across the country and can give the board an extra insight into potential outcomes.

The directors spent some time discussing various scenarios for the 2020/21 season. Although accepting that we cannot makes any decisions unilaterally as we are part of the NLS, we will continue to work on these possible scenarios before discussing further with clubs.

We will call an all clubs meeting to be held virtually later this month to see if there is a consensus on the potential way forward to present to the FA
