Wood back with the Angels, whilst Derry departs

Striker Tommy Wood has rejoined the Angels and will go straight into contention for a starting place in tonight’s (October 13th) Emirates FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round tie away against Chichester City.

Last season’s stay at Tonbridge was a short one – a month’s loan from AFC Wimbledon starting 21st February –  but he certainly made quite an impact with three goals in three appearances before the season was brought to a sudden end due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Angels Boss, Steve McKimm said today:  “I’m delighted that Tommy has agreed to join us on a permanent basis.  Even though he was only able to play three games for us last season, I’m sure everyone connected with the club will have seen the quality he brought to the strike force, not only his ability to score goals but in bringing others into play.”

Meanwhile, Tom Derry has been released from the Club.  The 25 year old joined the Angels in February 2019 with previous clubs before then including Leatherhead, Kingstonian, Chelmsford City and Gillingham.

Tom made a total of 46 appearances for us scoring 13 goals.  Angels Boss Steve McKimm said: “I would like to thank Tom for his efforts while with us.  He gave 100% and I wish him all the very best for the future.  He will of course always be remembered for the role he played in our 2018/19 promotion winning side.”
