Canterbury City Appoint New Manager
Canterbury City have confirmed the appointment of Mark Towse as their new Manager, with his coaching team joining him at the Kent County Premier Division side.
Towse enjoyed a nine-year semi-professional playing career, making over 200 appearances across Steps 3–5 before injury brought an early end to his time on the pitch. He then moved into scouting and coaching with Folkestone Invicta, where he focused on developing local youth talent for first-team football.
He’s no stranger to the club either — having served as Assistant Manager of Canterbury’s U23s between 2012 and 2014, while also coaching at Whitstable, Tenterden and Hythe in the years since.
Speaking to Chairman Trevor James, Towse praised the club’s efforts both on and off the field, saying he was “blown away” by the passion of the volunteers and supporters at last weekend’s game.
“The soul of a football club is not attached to any brick, mortar or blade of grass — it’s held by the people that belong to it. And what I saw on Saturday was Canterbury City Football Club. We wanted to be part of it.”
City currently sit 16th in the Kent County Premier Division, and Towse is aiming to lift the side up the table as he begins his new challenge.
