Combined Counties League postpone play-offs
The Combined Counties League have had to postpone the play-offs for their South Division due to an ongoing appeal to a points deduction for potential Champions Jersey Bulls.
Jersey have been provisionally deducted 3 points for playing an ineligible player in a match in which they won and that deduction would hand the title to Redhill FC, and drop Jersey into the play-offs.
Earlier this week the League posted this statement;
“Jersey Bulls FC – The Board have considered the playing of a player in a Premier Division South match whilst under suspension. All circumstances have been considered and the Board have decided that Jersey Bulls FC shall be deducted three points being the points gained from the match in which the ineligible player was played. This decision is subject to the right of appeal to the Football Association and any adjustment to the league table will be done only after any such appeal has been heard or seven days have elapsed. The Board of the Combined Counties Football League Limited.”
And today, 23rd April, they posted the following update;
“Premier Division South Playoff Semi-Finals – The League, after consultation with the Football Association, have decided that the Premier Division South Playoff Semi-Finals scheduled for Saturday 26th April 2025 will be postponed. The judicial process impacting the playoff positions has not completed and until it has these matches will be on hold. The league will provide an update when the situation has progressed to an appropriate stage. The Board of Directors.”
To further complicate matters, one of the play-off teams is AFC Whyteleafe, who have an FA Vase Final date at Wembley fast approaching. That will take a potential re-arranged date away from the League so at this stage we are very unsure on when these games will take place.
