The Club will bid a fond farewell to Sam Wood, Jordan Higgs, Dave Winfield, Adam Mekki, Andre Coker, Jake Goodman and Josh Rees. Loanee Corey Whitely has returned to parent club Newport County.

First team goalkeeping coach Jim Stannard and physiotherapist Paul Smith have also departed the Club, and leave with our sincere thanks for their efforts during their time with us.

Manager Neil Smith remains in discussions with potential new signings.

Special mentions must go to Sam Wood, Josh Rees, Jordan Higgs and Adam Mekki.

Having originally joined from Cray Wanderers in 2005, Sam Wood is undoubtedly a club legend, and will be fondly remembered for playing his part in the Club’s Kent Senior Cup finals in 2006 and 2007, and of course that memorable Isthmian League Premier division playoff winning season of 2006-07. After a career in the Football League, Wood returned to Bromley in 2018 for his second spell and once again made the left back spot his own with consistent performances.

Josh Rees signed for the Ravens in the Summer of 2017 and went on to have an outstanding season, helping the Club to a top half finish and an FA Trophy Final. During his first spell, he clocked up 55 appearances, scoring 20 times, an incredible return for a central midfielder. His impressive season earned him a move to Gillingham in June 2018, where he spent the 2018-19 season. Following this, he returned to Bromley for his second spell in August 2019, making 30 appearances in all competitions and scoring four times, before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

Jordan Higgs has been the Club’s most successful Academy graduate to date, with the midfielder clocking up over 150 first team appearances during the course of last season. He burst onto the scene towards the end of the 2015/16 season, Bromley’s first in the National League, and often filled in at right back and on the wing, even starting in the 2018 FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.

Adam Mekki joined in 2017 from Tranmere Rovers. Quickly establishing himself as a fans’ favourite, the winger nailed down a starting spot in Neil Smith’s side and earned the Man of the Match award in the 2018 FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium, assisting Omar Bugiel’s goal to give Bromley the lead. Following a horror injury in January 2019, his admirable attitude towards his recovery saw him make a return to competitive action remarkably quickly, featuring in Bromley’s first home game of the 2019/20 season, a 3-1 win against Ebbsfleet United. His first goal of the season soon followed, the opener in a 5-0 win over FC Halifax Town, before a short stint on loan with Ebbsfleet. He was then recalled by Neil Smith, and featured in Bromley’s final match of the 2019/20 season, a 1-1 draw at Harrogate Town.

The Club would like to wish all of those moving on the very best for the future, and thank them for their efforts at Hayes Lane.

The Club will announce further squad updates in the coming weeks.”
