Freeman no longer an Oysterman
Herne Bay have announced that they have signed striker Ricky Freeman from Whitstable Town.
Just a few days after Whitstable Town claimed that Freeman had commited for the next season Ricky seems to have had a change of mind.
Speaking via the Whitstable Town Club Website this week, Manager Lloyd Blackman stated:
When I came in for the last three games of the season to oversee the change with Scott Porter, Ricky Freeman was one of the players that really stood out for me. Therefore I’m delighted to have him agreed for this season. Ricky had a disrupted campaign last season due to injury, however he ticks all the boxes and his character and experience are second to none. With a good pre-season under his belt, I look forward to seeing Ricky at his best.
Now though Herne Bay have unveiled him as their new forward and Freeman is sure to go on and hit the net many times for his new side.
Ricky’s previous clubs now include Whitstable Town, Hollands & Blair, Phoenix Sports, AFC Hornchurch and Chatham Town.
Stuart West has also made the move from the Belmont to Winchs Field.
Stuart West is primarily a defender but can play elsewhere and for a defender has a decent goal scoring record.
He was with Hollands & Blair before signing for Ashford United in June 2016 where he was their captain and led them to a SCEFL League and Cup double. West joined Whitstable Town for the 2017/18 SCEFL campaign, helping them gain promotion as runners-up and win the Kent Senior Trophy and the SCEFL League Cup. He went on to make 39 league and cup starts for the Oystermen in the Isthmian League Division One South East last season.
He leaves the Belmont having played 88 times and scoring 17 goals. Another great addition to a promising Bay squad.
This duo join Joe Nelder, Kyron Lightfoot, Chris Saunders and Danny Lawrence as new signings for this new-look Herne Bay side.
