Kidderminster Harriers boss confirms player talks and departures

Kidderminster Harriers Manager Russ Penn has confirmed he has begun talks with members of his squad ahead of the new season, while a number of players are to leave Aggborough.

Following his appointment as permanent Manager last week, Russ has wasted no time in starting to shape his squad for the 2020/21 National League North campaign.

He, along with Jimmy O’Connor, have held online meetings with all players and, having consulted with Interim CEO Neil Male, made the decisions as outlined below.

Russ said: “This is a really difficult part of the job and not one any Manager enjoys, but we are making decisions in the best interests of the club and, in my opinion, to give us the best base on which to build a strong squad for next season.

“I’d like to thank each of the players who will be leaving us for their efforts. Some of them have been with the club for a long time and given great service; we wish them all well for the future.”

The Manager has opened discussions with the following players with respect to the 2020/21 season:

Jaiden White
Milan Butterfield
Alex Prosser
Keith Lowe
Ashley Chambers
Ed Williams
Tom Palmer

Players who will not be offered contracts for 2020/21 season:

Harry Higginson
Brandon Diau
Declan Weeks
Samir Nabi
Ryan Johnson
Reiss Taylor-Randle
Correy Davidson
Lewis Miccio
Knory Scott

The following players are already contracted for 2020/21

Alex Penny
Sam Austin
Jim Kellermann
Ashley Hemmings
Cliff Moyo
Ethan Freemantle

Russ added: “These are challenging times for everyone but, as a club, we have so much to look forward to when we do return.

“We need everyone going in the same direction next season. This club has to be full of positivity.

“This closed season will be very different and one we have to be clever with in terms of using our experience and contacts, but I am confident that, with a bit of patience, there’s a lot to be excited about.”

The club is currently awaiting further, formal guidance from the National League in regards to how the 2019/20 season is to be finalised after the league announced this week that clubs had voted to cancel the remaining games of the term.
