New man in the hotseat at Barrow

Following a thorough search for the right person National League side Barrow have announced Ian Evatt as their new Manager.

Born in Coventry, Ian spent his youth career at Derby County before going on to play over 30 times for their first time.

He went on to play over 500 professional games at clubs including Queens Park Rangers, and Blackpool where he was ever present during their Premier League campaign.

Ian has most recently been at fellow National League side Chesterfield where he was club captain as well as caretaker manager for a short time at the end of last season.

He joins Barrow looking to make his mark in management and Managing Director Andrew Casson says he believes he can do that at his side; “I am delighted to welcome Ian to the club to lead us forward. We spent a lot of time talking to our shortlist of candidates and Ian’s leadership credentials really stood out to us.

“It was clear to us that he has the drive and determination to win at all costs which he has done at all levels of the game.”

“He has a fantastic network of footballing contacts from such an impressive playing career which will be important as we build our squad for next season.”

“Now the appointment has been made I am looking forward to working with both Ian and Paul Ogden to work quickly on recruitment and get everything in place so we can hit the ground running in pre-season.”

“It was a big decision to make and were confident we have the right man for the job after completing such a thorough search. To that end, I’d like to thank the fans for their patience over the last few weeks.”
