No more Sammy at Hemel Hempstead
Sammy Moore says he is looking for a new job after announcing that his contract was not being renewed by Hemel Hempstead Town.
The 32-year-old, Deal born manager guided the Vauxhall Road outfit to eleventh-place in the Vanarama National League South table before football came to a halt due to the coronavirus crisis.
Moore’s final game in charge was a 2-1 defeat at Dulwich Hamlet on Saturday 14 March 2020.
“It is with sadness that I announce that my contract at Hemel Hempstead Town FC will not be renewed for the forthcoming season,” the former Dover Athletic midfielder said in a statement shared on Twitter.
“Although I respect the chairman’s decision, it has come as a massive shock to me, as I was given the go-ahead to plan for next season.
“I am disappointed that this is the decision that’s been made after a season, which I felt wasn’t finished, with six points off play-offs and a game in hand, with also two cup finals left to play.
“I just felt like it was unfinished business and we could have gone again (next) season.
“Unfortunately, the football world is full of uncertainties at the moment and I respect that too.
“I just would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported me and my team throughout this season.
“My players have been massively supportive and as a team we had planned for next season harder than ever, even in this uncertain time, which showed me the commitment of every player and part of my team.
“The staff and volunteers have been amazing and myself and my staff will thoroughly miss them.
“I’d also like to thank the chairman and the board for their support in providing good foundations for us to be the best we could be but my biggest thanks go to the fans. You stuck by us through the difficult times and sung your hearts out week in, week out.
“I like to think we were an approachable management team and we enjoyed interacting with you all on a personal level.
“I’ve loved my time at the club and I hope in the near future football resumes and you can go on to support the club you all love.
“Thanks for your time – for now I’m looking for a job.”
Moore was in charge of Hemel Hempstead Town for one year and recorded 12 league wins, 8 draws and 14 defeats and has previously managed Leatherhead and Concord Rangers.
The club have also confirmed the departures of Jack Midson (player-assistant manager) and coach Darren Beale.
