Ricky Shakes retires from football
Boreham Wood’s Ricky Shakes has confirmed his retirement from playing.
Winger Shakes last appeared for the Wood in February, when Luke Garrard’s side won 2-1 at AFC Fylde.
He has been with the club since 2013, having had a notable earlier spell with Ebbsfleet United.
The former Bolton Wanderers youngster, who featured for Swindon Town and Brentford prior to playing in non-league, said the following on Twitter:
A Happy Farewell I’m happy to announce my retirement from football. It has been a long 19 years playing professionally. It has been a phenomenal experience that has allowed me to travel, meet friends for life and play the sport I love.
