Woking FC have released a statement on their website praising their team for a strong Season in the National League.
The statement reads:
We trust and hope that you and your loved ones are well in these challenging times.
The big news since our last update is that it has finally been agreed that the National League games that have not yet been played will be cancelled. This was decided through a vote of all of the clubs and was in accordance with the National League recommendation. There still needs to be a decision on final league placings and any play off, promotion or relegation outcomes.
We want to take this opportunity to praise the management and players for a strong league season and some memorable performances and results. It is a big pity that the final games won’t be happening as we were confident of finishing in the play off positions which would have been a superb return for a part time team. We are sure we speak for the supporters in saying that the players have done us proud.
We also want to thank the volunteers who are still working so hard in the background. In particular Nick Shaw’s work in designing Cards’ activities for all ages to pass the hours has been brilliant. We understand there is more in the pipeline. If you missed them they can be found here
Since the games stopped many fans have asked how they can help the club and there will be many initiatives in the coming weeks and months. We are very excited to announce a great scheme #GetBehindTheShirt which will go live at 5.20pm on Saturday, the time we were due to be kicking off against Barrow. We will not say any more at this point other than to say that it is innovative and pioneering and we would love all fans to get involved and get the word out to their friends.
Thanks and stay well.
Come On You Cards!! #GetBehindTheShirt
