Bobby-Joe Taylor in as latest Fleet recruit
Ebbsfleet United have today signed versatile winger Bobby-Joe Taylor from Dover Athletic to join Dennis Kutrieb’s growing squad.
The former England C international is well-known to Fleet fans having also represented Bromley and Maidstone United in the county, scoring a superb equaliser for the Stones here in the 2016 promotion final and also converting his spot-kick in that nail-biting shootout.
Taylor, 25, has spent the last two years at Crabble and played 60 times for the Whites before being made available for transfer following the season shutdown.
The midfielder began his senior career with Cambridge United following a solid youth grounding at Chelsea and Gillingham, playing his first game for the U’s just days after his 18th birthday.
Loan spells with St Neots Town, Arlesey Town and Bishop’s Stortford followed, Taylor making his Blues debut against the Fleet in February 2015 – the first of seven appearances against us in his career.
Following eight more games for Cambridge in League Two, Taylor joined Maidstone and won promotion from the National League South in his first season.
He was a virtual ever-present in the Stones’ National League debut and after more than 70 appearances for the club, he caught the eye of Aldershot Town, turning down a move back to the League to move there for the 2017/18 season.
After 18 games for Bromley in 2018, Taylor moved to Dover, initially on loan, in October 2018. He stayed on a permanent basis then re-signed for last season and has played in both the Whites’ 1-0 wins at the Kuflink Stadium in the past two seasons.
Primarily an out-and-out left winger, Taylor can operate on the opposite flank and his flexibility also allows him to deploy as a wing-back or full-back.
