Bromley add a Goodman to their squad
Bromley Football Club have announced the signing of 25 year old defender Jake Goodman.
Bexley-born Jake was part of Millwall’s Youth Setup, and in 2011, was awarded his first professional contract by manager Kenny Jackett, amidst interest from Premier League side Newcastle United.
During his time with the Lions, Goodman had loan spells at Staines Town, Luton Town, Aldershot Town, and finally with League 2 AFC Wimbledon. Following his departure from Millwall, he signed for Margate, spending a season in the National League South, before making the step up to the National League with Braintree Town for the 2016-17 season. Goodman spent last season with Maidenhead United, making 43 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice, and helping the Berkshire outfit to an impressive 12th place finish in their first National League season.
Jake was delighted to link up with Neil Smith and commit to the Ravens for next season; “I feel fantastic. I’m really happy we’ve managed to get the deal done early and get back into full time football, which I’ve missed for a few years now. It’s great that Bromley have given me the opportunity to get back to it and I can’t wait to get started!”
Smith added; “I’m really pleased. We’ve kept an eye on Jake for a while now. He’s a local lad and we know him well from his Millwall days, and from when we’ve come up against him from his time at Maidenhead and Braintree. He’s been keen to return to full-time football and we’re pleased to give him that opportunity. I’m sure he’ll be a great addition to the squad and help to provide plenty of competition for places at the back.”
Jake joins the following players in committing to the Ravens for next season:
David Gregory
Jack Holland
Jordan Higgs
Bobby-Joe Taylor
Adam Mekki
Kyle De Silva
George Porter
Dan Johnson
Neil Smith remains in talks with a number of last season’s squad and potential further signings. Of course, the official website will bring you any further news as soon as we have it.
