Maidstone release six as Wheeler rings the changes
Harry Wheeler has revealed the six players he has transfer listed.
The new Maidstone United boss has overseen two wins in his first three games and is now ringing the changes.
Wheeler has brought in six new faces since he was appointed two weeks ago but must now let some of the club’s summer signings go.
Winger Andre Coker and former Bournemouth striker Joe Quigley have been transfer listed while defenders Michee Efete and Jordan Wynter have also been told they are not in Wheeler’s plans.
Academy graduate Jack Richards and back-up goalkeeper Matt Funnell are available too.
Wheeler, who’s made six signings since taking charge, said: “I think you had a lot of the same type, position-wise, a lot of young lads and we needed to being some experience in.
“If we didn’t have a budget I’d keep them and bring everyone else in and work with them all but we have a budget here.
“I didn’t have a budget last year (at Billericay) but I’ve got a budget here and I’ve got to stick to it.
“We have to find a balance. It’s just how football works, it’s not personal.”
Wheeler says there’s already been interest.
He added: “They’re good lads, good players. I’ve stuck by them. I don’t just chuck them out.
“They’re welcome to come in and train, I’ve said they can do everything.
“There’s interest and hopefully they can sort themselves out in the next few days.”
