Maidstone distance Saunders from Macclesfield Job
Maidstone United have today tried to put a stop to the rumours that their Manager Jay Saunders has been lined up to join Macclesfield Town.
From chief executive Bill Williams:
“Over the past day or so, there has been rumour and speculation over the future of our manager Jay Saunders.
To put an end to that, I can confirm that Jay is committed to Maidstone United and will be continuing the role he’s had with the club since 2011.
We are all looking forward to what is going to be a very exciting season and Jay, along with his management team of Steve Watt and Harrison Grant, are busy preparing their pre-season programme and looking to add players to the existing squad.”
He is priced 1/10 with Skybet to succeed John Askey, who left the National League champions to take over at Shrewsbury last week.
Saunders has been in charge of his hometown club for seven seasons, winning three promotions and keeping United in the National League for the past two years.
